How can I dispose of metal?

I've got an old metal tin-cutter to get rid of. Would I be right in saying it doesn't belong in either the household or recycling bin?

All household waste, green or black bin, will go through a system that takes out megnetic items, its ££ in someones pocket.

Or take it to the tip.

Leave it outside your house and it's guaranteed to disappear within a couple of hours (based on recent direct experience!).
