Owethemnowt   10 #13 Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) There's always been a class system.  It's done to keep vegetables in their place.  You can't have the common spud mixing with the Artichokes. It's not right. There are boundaries. Borders. Fertile pastures. Rich fields of greenery that need to be upheld and respected. Iconic instituions of Asparagus can not be compared with a stack of tyres producing spuds.  There's a rising middle class of runner beans, tomatoes, aspiring green leafy vegeatables and of course brocoli.  But even that is separated from the spud and carrot. Sprouts are a good example of upward mobility but it should be remembered where they come from, all clustered together.  It is what it is.  No the class system is essential in maintaining the status quo with the noble Aubergine, purple and resplendant, at the top and the peas, millions of them, at the bottom.  I would mention garlic but it's banned.
