Dardandec 32 #4741 Posted October 22, 2018 It's the budget on Monday, so we need to brace ourselves, as this one probably will be the Remainers sweatheart, George Osbornes, forwarned one with the bloodcurdling tax rises and health cuts. Possibly. It's what the people voted for so lets crack on. Austerity and tax rises were nailed on after a leave result, they were warned. RJRB 688 #4743 Posted October 22, 2018 The single thing that we should all be able to agree on if a deal is concluded is that” It’s not what we voted for” !!! So much for the “very simple, leave means leave “ comments.
 Share this content via...

Excuse me, but Austerity has been going on for 10 years, nothing to do with Brexit. In fact old Theresa promised 'austerity coming to an end' just a couple of weeks ago. Mind you, if you believe that, you'll believe anything. Same with tax rises, they've been on the cards for years.
 Share this content via...

Those cuts and taxes are just the continuum of past Tory policies, not that far from the (U.K. domestic) status quo. Your statutory laissez-faire is what’s killing U.K. plc. Businesses need legal certainty to plan and operate. The way things are going at the HoC and in Westminster, either you cancel Brexit (somehow, and personally I can’t see how) or there’ll just be a supersized legal black hole for everything and everyone in the U.K. from 11pm on 29/3/19. Because there’s simply no possible way the U.K. is going to manage 4+ SIs *a day* between now and Brexit day. woodview 10 #4747 Posted October 23, 2018 Yep, they voted for it. Can’t have been warned enough times. As mentioned above, those austerity polices were in place for years. What happened to the Chancellor and PM, Osborne and Cameron's warnings of the emergency brexit budget? If someone can tell me when that happened, or if it will happen in this one,?? So, are you saying the cuts and tax rises that the chancellor told us would happen, haven't. But they are going to happen in the future instead? I didn't read any plan for anyone to be flushing any trade deals down the bog. The plan for Labour and Conservatives is to have trade deals, that's the idea of the endless negotiations you might have read about....... I didn't read any plan for anyone to be flushing any trade deals down the bog. The plan for Labour and Conservatives is to have trade deals, that's the idea of the endless negotiations you might have read about....... Do you understand that the EU of which we are currently part has an extensive set of trade deals? And when we leave we will no longer be part of those deals? That's what we're throwing away. With no replacements, and no negotiating power to create new deals. The endless negotiations don't even begin to cover trade deals outside the EU, which are the deals we're losing access to. The negotiations have all been about within the EU, which aren't currently trade deals, there is free trade within the EU, we will be leaving that, in ADDITION to all the trade deals that cover the rest of the world from the EU.
