El Cid   213 #1 Posted December 30, 2017 Can a couple, living together with children, be classed as single?  A friend that seems to have a negative attitude towards women and marriage, is living with his partner, but he does not think he will be treated as a couple if they split. I cannot see how this is possible, although he has taken legal advice.  http://www.mirror.co.uk/money/unmarried-woman-wins-rights-late-9780061  Unmarried woman wins rights to late partner's pension - how new ruling will affect 6 million more cohabiting couples in Britain. Cyclone   10 #2 Posted December 30, 2017 Cohabiting means more than literally just sharing a house, otherwise lots of tenants would be having problems. But if these people were previously a couple then the authorities aren't likely to believe "We've split up and just live together like tenants or owner/lodger now"... Just wondering how any future court would look at the situation.
 Share this content via...
cgksheff   44 #4 Posted December 30, 2017 A lot will depend upon provision for dependant children. If one of the couple is to take a greater share of residence and financial responsibility, the other will be required to make financial provision. Just wondering how any future court would look at the situation.  So they're still a couple, still living together.  Then they're not in any sense single are they, and a court would look at it like benefits fraud.  ---------- Post added 31-12-2017 at 09:46 ----------  They are still a couple, but having separate money. Just wondering how any future court would look at the situation.  I'm slightly confused by your OP now though.  "If they split", what does this mean if you then say that they will still be a couple? In what way will they have "split"?
 Share this content via...
