willman   10 #1 Posted October 13, 2015 I'm probably being a bit thick but hey ho  I have a "vintage" music centre which allows for a microphone. Now if i recall as a child if you used the mic it recorded on the tape deck, but did it. I wonder if i could use the mic to bellow out my tunes via the onboard amp.  Any one got a clue? Suppose i could buy a cheap mic and try.
 Share this content via...

muddycoffee   10 #3 Posted October 13, 2015 Your main problem with an "ahem" classic music centre is that the power amplifier is usually only about 5 watts. There is usually 2 microphone inputs, however each is mono and they won't mix with any music playing, what you really need is a mixer so you can add music channels and a single microphone channel which can be centre "panned" in the middle of the stereo mix.  My personal advice is do not bother. If you want to play, find a second hand karaoke home kit on eBay. No doubt after a couple of weeks it will be going for sale again on eBay.
