Time the royal family were scrapped ..or starved of public funding.  https://www.republic.org.uk/what-we-do/news-and-updates/snp-votes-scrap-royal-funding  SNP votes to scrap royal funding 13 October 2017  At their annual conference this week, the Scottish National Party backed a plan to scrap public funding of the royal family, arguing that the money should instead be spent on "the wider public good".  The motion was backed by a number of MPs and MSPs and overwhelmingly supported by the conference delegation.  The motion read:  "Conference believes that profits from the Crown Estate, which is a public asset, should be spent on the wider public good.  Conference therefore resolves to support the repeal of the Sovereign Grant Act 2011." Last financial year the Crown Estates generated just under £247m into the public purse after the queen got her soverign payment. Wonder how that compares to the costs/benefit analysis of other heads of state.  Bet someone like Trump would piddle that sort of money away just on travel costs or wig glue. Wonder how much Nicola Queen of Scots would piddle away down the drain if she got her grubby hands on true control. Or how much the royal ‘brand’ is worth in total. What would replace that? Biscuit tins with Theresa May’s face on?
 Share this content via...
I1L2T3   10 #12 Posted October 16, 2017 Do you know much money is generated for the UK economy from one off royal events, such as royal weddings and births? Or how much the royal ‘brand’ is worth in total. What would replace that? Biscuit tins with Theresa May’s face on?  How much?  People have a fascination with failed monarchy. Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle could be bigger money spinners than Versailles if we fully open them to the public.  BTW we're not talking about exterminating the royal family. They can still get married and have babies. Their brand would survive, they just don't need to be an integral part of the state any more.
