The Abbey at Woodseats about to take a turn for the worse

Recommended Posts

With the new micropub on Woodseats, there are now 5 places to drink, 2 of them with 'For Lease' signs outside, both owned by Punch. You don't have to be Sir John Harvey Jones!

is this Guzzle? Not a propitious name!! Presumably populated by overpaid hipsters.....

Tried Guzzle last week. Nice little place with lovely beers and a great Yorkshire Cider. Friendly staff and it's been nicely done out. Will be popping in regularly, and I'm certainly no Hipster :)

The best pubs are usually where the people running them, own the business and buildings!

Pubcos usually mean the kiss of death!

Been in there a couple of times recently. They now have some basic `craft` in bottles but also Tiny Rebel Fubar as a keg regular and decent imho, £4.25 mind.

£4.25?! Tha's paying hipster prices Jemmo. We could have a session in Wetherspoons for that, and still have change for a kebab.....:hihi:

Indeed, they do come and it is usually on a unicycle. They come on their Unicycles to visit the shops here too.

think it would to do a survey based on budget: e.g., if you can afford £2.50 - £3.00 per pint, where do you go? And so on.

Maybe but I do think that, even in Woodseats, there are folk who are happy to pay `top end` prices and that includes me, so long as the beer is good. Quality not quantity, so to speak.

4.25 is scraping the barrel. real Real ale houses are on the whole much cheaper.. unless that's the brewers going rate on that particular brew(?)

It's a Punch Taverns pub, that means they'll be paying a mean average of £60 extra per barrel / keg than a 'real' real ale house.
