TonyP Â Â 10 #1 Posted June 10, 2018 Does anyone know where I can get some wood shavings are similar material to put between my raised beds on my allotment? Nearer to Stocksbridge the better.
 Share this content via...
RJRB   688 #2 Posted June 10, 2018 (edited) There’s a joinery shop which makes wooden gazebos, conservatories etc on the one way system at the end of Holme Lane. They usually have large polythene bags of shavings and sawdust outside on the pavement. I’m not sure if these are free for collection or for sale, but they seem to generate a lot. Just looked it up and it’s Philip Hodgson 91 -93 Loxley Road. Edited June 10, 2018 by RJRB
 Share this content via...

Chez2 Â Â 10 #4 Posted June 12, 2018 These are likely to be from treated timber, don't use them on the garden. Â You need to let wood shavings rot down before putting them on your garden otherwise they process of decay will remove nitrogen from your soil until they have completely decomposed.
