Non intrusive Bamboo

Can anyone recommend a variety that would be happy in a large pot on the patio, and where I might get some please?

Theyd got some nice big healthy looking bamboo at Morrisons yesterday.

 

I wouldve bought some myself but my Dads splitting his soon so Im waiting for that.

I do love this Bamboo, so graceful, I wasn't sure that it could be potted so thanks for that I will look around.

Well that is very helpful, do you have any idea what variety it is? if your Dad fancies selling me a small clump when he splits it I would be happy as well :D

Thank you, as long as its evergreen and clump forming I do want to pot it so bit of an ask really :hihi:

After nightmare stories of Bamboo filling the neighbourhood I am a bit scared to put it in the ground.

Have grown ‘Simba’ and IMO it would be ok in a large pot. It grows steadily but not rapidly. I usually use John Innes No 3 for long term plants, shrubs etc.

In the end I went for seeds, I have now at least 3 teensy black bamboo plants, lovely to see them start growing, cant wait till they are big enough to plant out :)
