Memories of "The Limit" Nightclub

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I have just heard some sad news about an old friend of mine Haydn Boyes Weston who passed away in 2014. He was the drummer with 2.3, Cabaret Voltaire and many other Sheffield bands. RIP Haydn

Sad news, I remember him from all the bands you mentioned, and remember chatting to him in various West Street pubs (the Saddle springs to mind)

The first time I went to the Limit it was 1983 or 1984- I was seriously underage so tried to spike my hair up to make me look taller ( using a combination of egg white and inset spikey)

I went to see the band the Alarm- it was dark sweaty and wonderful drank red stripe all night!!

Anyone remember Wayne County and the Electric Chairs at the Limit? I saw them once but only caught the last song. To chuffing ****** and fell asleep.

I used to Roadie for Mick Shedd and Danny. They used to stay at mine sometimes, I lived in a dump off Havelock Square. Super guys and Danny had great taste in tank tops.

Used to go to the limit a lot in the 70's. Too many memories to list, really liked Judd and Dave from ClockDVA plus Mick Shedd and Danny, Martin Fry, the Russians, Throbbing Gristle, Adrian Vinken, and many others.

Your name came up in conversation yesterday mate!

I saw Molodoy in 1978, the singer was dressed like "Alex" in the film "A Clockwork Orange", and if memory serves they were originally called "Reactor" and were from Low Edges?

The Push were "Charles Paris and The Push" and the singer was in "Coronation Street" for a few episodes (real name was Ray something or other),

Talking of "Charles", The Deaf Aids were "Charles Hawtry and the Deaf Aids" , and one of the lads had the one-side-long-and-one-side-short haircut, like Phil Oakey, he also had half a moustache!

Good old days................
