stpetre   12 #4 Posted September 3, 2016 Yeah I remember Simpkin & Machin, never knew much about what they did though.  They were an Insulation company and basically that was the main office as most of their work was around Sheffield, Rotherham, Chesterfield or north east Derbyshire. The office staff were local -well Killamarsh and Renishaw also.
 Share this content via...
wrinkly67 Â Â 10 #5 Posted September 4, 2016 Baumforth & Garfitt - got our first tele from there. There was also a wallpaper shop - Bradshaws. And two cinemas the "Electra" and what we always referred to as the "bottom" cinema. Courtnalls shop. And not forgetting "the flats" - the road from Renishaw to Eckington, alongside the golf course where the young uns paraded and many courtships started. blackydog   40 #11 Posted September 13, 2016 Not from Eckington, lived in Mosboro area for 29 years. Seen lots of pubs go by the wayside over the years. Shambles, White Hart (anyone remember the barbershop singers?), Bird in Hand, Angel, the one that looks like a detached house on the main rd, West End. Don't bother going for a drink there anymore, not worth it.
 Share this content via...
