Latest Firefox 56 ..

Recommended Posts

What are your experiences? It started off quick but some pages seem slow, then again, it's all down to how much traffic is on the M1 equivalent of the ether-highway I guess. Wonder when congestion charges will creep in? :suspect:

My latest Firefox is Version 57: Quantum Firefox, it does seem a little faster.

FF 57 looks good and seems faster.

After many years I thought I'd revisit Safari but its still bad!

Depends on the OS

If you're using macOS I would say Safari.

For Windows 7 and below, Chrome.

For Windows 10 with latest updates. Chrome or Edge.

I would only use Firefox as a backup.

The latest FF update has been dreadful for me, its terribly slow and constantly freezing, I've had to switch back to Chrome.

I've had problems with 57 and have gone back to 56 and stopped it doing auto updates. A number of the add-ons I have for FF stopped working with v57

Firefox 57 is less of a resource hog.

I can leave it running overnight and it doesn’t consume several GB of RAM anymore.

Only took ‘em a couple dozen versions to fix . . .

The new UI is fresh, but difficult to see on a restored window (ie, not maximised / fullscreen) where to click to drag the main window around or tear off tabs to another monitor.

A worthy improvement.

See the link about half a page down:

Firefox now exclusively supports extensions built using the WebExtension API, and unsupported legacy extensions will no longer work

See Mikes 10 post above and ashbifs post before that. If you want an increasee in browsing speed and not too bothered about extensions you have already, it is well worth ago - You may also want to try Ice Cat (formerly Ice Weasel):
