falpere   10 #133 Posted June 15, 2010 Am I the only one who was extremely disappointed by Alan Wake? Yeah it's atmospheric, but that's about it. There are no actual scares, the combat is boring and extremely repetitive, and the story reads like a third rate Steven King novel (and the makers know it, by how many smug references they put in there).  After all this time I can't help but feel like I shouldn't've bothered waiting.  It's by no means bad, but I was expecting something great, and what I got was mediocrity.  I have read mixed reviews in the mag's. I asked the question because the mag' critics only play part of the games they are reviewing before passing judgement.  If you have given it a full play through and your opinion is that it is not what it was cracked up to be, I will spend my money on a better game (RDR appeals!).  Thanks for the advice. Karis   11 #134 Posted June 15, 2010 I don't know why people aren't liking Alan Wake. The combat is great fun, fluid and not boring, and the graphics look stunning, the writing is great, it's incredbly immersive.  OK. So there's not a huge variety of critters (only played the first 3 acts), but it's polished and very easy to play.
 Share this content via...
