Calahonda   11 #37 Posted July 30, 2018 Wasn't the Piccolo on Cambridge Street ?  Correct, close to the top, Stewart’s on Union Street was a similar cafe, Mary Gentle’s fish and chips cafe, situated above the chip shop on Howard Street was a favourite of mine. Calahonda   11 #39 Posted July 30, 2018 Uncle Sams on Eccy Road has been around since the 70s!  Ron Barton opened it after seeing similar in New York, he later opened Barton’s, opposite Glossop Road Baths. The Freeman brothers opened Yankees a little further up Eccy Rd, it was more expensive than Uncle Sams but didn’t have the same character, or the constant pop music.
