Snooker147   11 #1 Posted March 2, 2018 Hello I am wanting to know the best free photo editor I can use to cut a photo out from a background like you can on Photoshop  I had Photoshop CS5 on my laptop I no longer have so sadly I can't edit photos  if anyone does it as a hobby and wants to help to edit a small photo I'd be grateful if I cant get a software online much appreciated ... It's a Serif program which was a demo when released for Windows last year. They sometimes offer discounts to existing customers but costs a lot less than the extortionate rental of Adobe Photoshop and does the same thing practically. swarfendor437 Â Â 14 #10 Posted March 4, 2018 Hi Snooker147, Â The default file format for Gimp is .xcf - what you do is when you paste an image into GIMP it automatically wants to save as an .xcf file. What you need to do to 'save' as .png is to 'Export' it and choose the correct extension (.png) from the drop-down list provided on the interface when you select the File | Export function.
