with the opening up to the Israelis from the Saudis and the rest of the Gulf Arabs, or at least most of them because Qatar is not playing ball, it's tempting to think of it as being a totally unexpected development. It seems so very surprising.

But it's not actually all that unexpected. The Saudis and the UAE etc have been looking over at the Israelis for 20-30 years and thinking to themselves hang on a minute, maybe this lot are OK. It's not because they are being 'leaned on', by the US or anything like that. It's because some of them have started to think that maybe yes there is, a place for Jews in the Middle East. And that is very good news for Israel.

2017

The United Nations has denounced recent Israeli initiatives to accelerate settlement construction in occupied Palestinian territory, stressing that "unilateral actions" are an obstacle to peace based on a two-state solution.

Tell us: do the stone/bomb-throwing rioters wish to have a Two State Solution?

[A: No, just a Final one for their victims. Of whom was that wish also true? Ah, yes, I remember...]

this is one to watch, on Friday in Gaza of course not Saturday as it would be in Israel and the west.

https://www.facebook.com/events/157571548327957/

Friday May 25

We are proud to invite everyone from all corners of the rainbow to come celebrate the First Ever Gaza Gay Pride Parade!

Come and celebrate gay culture in pride in our breathtaking shores of the beautiful Gaza Strip Palestine! We are free to be who we are even if Hamas,Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, Al Qassam Brigade and other oppose it! World Peace! Come and celebrate in the new Liberal, Palestine!

We will be marching down Nuseirat street and and it with a massive party on the beach (separate dancing of course).

***Details and maps, along with traffic redirections, will be uploaded closer to the event.***

it could be a hoax for all I know, but if it is legit, anyone who attends it is much braver than those psychos that turned up at the border fence.

I like that 'separate dancing' note- which rather suggests the likelihood of it being a hoax.

yeah the seperate dancing is funny but doesn't necessarily mean it is a hoax. It is meant to be funny. Same sex dancing is the norm in Muslim cultures anyway. Unmarried women are not even supposed to be seen dancing in front of anybody it is possible for them to marry and is not one of their family or a female friend.

I'm sure that everyone will be pleased to hear that the dead baby is no longer on the list of those killed by Israeli security.

The 53 terrorists are though.

yes. As far as I understand it, the baby's name has been transferred from the list of child victims of barbaric IDF brutality, to the list of children denied medical treatment in Israel, and who died as a result.

bit of an improvement I suppose. Usually they keep the names on both of the lists, to be on the safe side.

Alternatively Palestinians could go to Egypt for treatment instead of the power struggle between Fatah and Hamas dictating who gets treatment in Israeli hospitals.

why would the Palestinians want to go to other Arabs to get medical treatment, when they have to pay for it. In Israel, it's free.
