Transferring to new desktop

I am thinking of replacing my old Dell desktop - is it a simple job to transfer everything across and how do I do it. I have backed up all the files but surely you dont transfer those files to the new one.

If you are buying new then the PC will come with windows 10 installed and its then a case of reinstalling the software you used on the Dell if its not Windows software. This could be if you used another Anti-virus, a printer, video or music player etc. Maybe some more information on what the files are that you wish to keep would be helpful.

Transferring music, videos and photos to a new machine is fairly straightforward.
