Guest makapaka   #121 Posted September 18, 2018 I noticed this article about the closure of yet another pub in Sheffield. This follows on from the closure of Veeno down the road a few months ago - https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/customers-shock-as-ecclesall-road-prosecco-bar-closes-less-than-one-year-after-opening-1-9354274  Would be very interested to know if some of the people making silly arguments about missing out on experiences went in these places for the 'atmosphere' and if not, why not? According to the article some customers are 'shocked' about this closure. Really? I'm just disappointed that when the students return to Ecclesall Road they will be greeted with yet more empty units again. Not a great advert for Sheffield nightlife. But then it seems that if the pub/bar isn't quirky or traditional then it's no good for Sheffield...  On a more pleasant note I passed workmen doing up the place next to Stone the Crows on Barkers Pool today. It's going to be Barker's Bar apparently. When it opens I'll likely go in once to see what kind of beer they have, then maybe never again. Same thing I'll do if and when the Three Tuns reopens, unless it has a massively better drinks offer. I pay my money and take my choice - like everyone else is free to.  It was a prosecco bar rather than a pub wasn't it?
 Share this content via...

Cyclone   10 #124 Posted September 19, 2018 You've lost me to be honest. I never said you hadn't been in the 3 Tuns. Anyway - as long as you're not planning any pub crawls soon you'll be fine.  I'll be fine anyway, the closure of somewhere I didn't go to regularly is hardly going to be a big problem for me.  The Kelham Island beer festival is coming up soon. slh73   32 #130 Posted September 30, 2018 It’s just the worse thing.  I know what I like, and I don't see the point on throwing money at something I know I'm not going to enjoy. If that makes me a snob, so be it.
 Share this content via...
