80’s Commercial Street Nightclub

Recommended Posts

Hi - I’m making a special card up with memories in for my brothers 50th & know that he used to go to a club on Commercial Street where the Chinese buffet place once was. Can somebody please jog my memory as to what it was called please?

Thanks in advance!

The Gambit was further up the road. The buffet was much more recent.

Correct! Turnups. Think it was the gas board showroom prior to that?

Cheers, I’ve sorted it now, I can’t remember the last time I was on Commercial Street.

I remember going to a nightclub there (just down from the bank at the corner of Fitzallen square) think it was called Alleycats x

I thought there was a Turnups at Nether Edge. May have been in the old Nether Edge Hall. Remember going there on Thursday nights about 1973.

That's right - there was a door through from the wine bar to the club.

The last time i went in there was in March 1983 for a good friends hen night.

Memories of dancing to Toto 'Africa' are flooding back now

Happy days.
