Where did you keep them? Green bananas have never ripened in a cupboard or the fridge for me.

Why did you chuck them?

Surely they would ripen eventually?

A good question... perhaps they would have...but we had them a week.. then another half week.. then a holiday break arrived.. we could have took them with us.. but that seemed ridiculous.. so we binned them'... Cheers from D'

Gotcha'.. yeah we kept them on the kitchen work top.. at room temperature.

Then in sunlight on a window shelf.. then back to kitchen.... oh well ! they didn't cost a lot.

I wish that would happen to me, it seems like as soon as i put them in the fruit bowl they go brown, they come all the way from god knows where, and as soon as i get home they go brown

Funny enough, the greener the banana the better they are for you as they contain the most potassium. As the banana ripens & the sugars take over, the potassium breaks down.

Chuck the greenish bananas in some hot porridge.

What does the potassium break down in to?

I think you'll find it's the bananas that make the other fruit go off, that's the idea behind banana stands.
