muckynees   10 #1 Posted January 10, 2018 I'm looking to purchase some crusher run for a driveway but am totally in the dark about what I'm buying. Ive been told I will need 2 different grades, one finer than the other!?!? Anyway could anyone please give me an idea of where I should be ringing or what product I need to ask for or any recommendations please? I don't want to sound like a complete thicko and purchase the wrong thing. Tia
 Share this content via...

WarPig   70 #4 Posted January 10, 2018 Crusher run is just hardcore made up of material of different sizes, down to dust size particles. When whacked it compresses to form a solid sub base. Most builders yards should sell it, the last tine I bought it was from Alfred Dunham in Dronfield who delivered it with a Hi-Ab truck in builders sacks to my driveway. hicksy3 Â Â 10 #5 Posted January 11, 2018 You but it by the cubic yard (might be metre now), just referred to as yards. Beware of cowboys who tell you that for a 30 square yard are you need 30 yards and charge for 30 yards. You'll only need a fraction of a yard's depth, so 10 yards at most. Tia  one grade dust to 20mm crusher (hardcore) is fine for a drive Alfred Dunhams do bulk tonne bags which will cover 10-12 m at 100mm which is enough for a drive base.
