"What band in their right mind would perform the Allman Bros "Whippin Post" on a Friday night in the Boot & Shoe? More importantly, get away with it? Well that band would be the Gav Coulson Group. The same song even got em' up dancing (until they realised the song is a tad over 3 minutes!) And along with tracks from Gary Moore, Hendrix, Glenn Hughes, Walter Trout and a blistering take on Joe Bonamassa's version of Just Got Paid, the group went down a storm. Most know of Gavin's prowess on the guitar, but this is no 'one man band'. Four cracking musicians who know their stuff. Keyboards from Chris Pilkington ex Storm Bringer & Empress really give the band a rich sound. Ably assisted by a powerhouse rhythm section, this is rock blues at it's best!!  Sunday 7th January: Chris McMahon's Folk Session Hosted by renowned musician Chris McMahon of Treebeard, a Sunday afternoon session of folk music. Expect traditional, expect contemporary, expect the unexpected!  This month's guest is Del Scott Miller - a very talented singer / songwriter hailing from Barnsley.  3.30pm, free entry   The White Lion 615 London Road S2 4HT White Lion Website White Lion facebook
 Share this content via...
