retep   68 #661 Posted July 12, 2018 (Rough figures)  Total electorate 46,500,000  People who voted for Brexit 17,400,000  That leaves 29,100,000.  That is where the figure comes from. Of course that includes a lot of people who didn’t vote at all, and we can’t assume they were anti brexit, so whilst it’s technically correct to say that’s the figure of people who didn’t vote for Brexit, it is rather misleading.  So 30,500,000 didn't vote for remain. If you didn't vote in the referendum and hadn't a valid reason not to then you can't complain about the outcome. The 30 odd million who could be bothered have that right. WalkleyIan   10 #664 Posted July 12, 2018 If you had no valid reason not to vote in referendum or any election then you have nothing to complain about the outcome.  Yes, the millions who were 16 or 17 back then but who are now old enough to vote need to shut up and accept what's coming. You should know your elders know what's best for you.
 Share this content via...

Top Cats Hat   10 #666 Posted July 12, 2018 it is rather misleading.  Misleading how?  I am not and never have tried to claim that everyone who didn't vote were remain supporters. It doesn't really matter whether they were or not.  The government held an advisory referendum in which of the 46 odd million people were eligible to vote. Only 17 odd million of them voted to leave. That is only 39% of those eligible and is certainly not high enough to go forward on and certainly does not represent the will of the people. No doubt Elton John will be re-recording Candle In The Wind as we speak.
 Share this content via...

Our "boss" won't be the EU anymore it will be many other "bosses" instead - some nicer than others.
 Share this content via...

You should know your elders know what's best for you.  It's nothing to do with your elders know better. Until the voting age is lowered then like you and me who couldn't vote until we were 18 they have to except the outcome of election results. They may not like the outcome but they will have their chance to vote and change things in future elections.
 Share this content via...
Lockdoctor   10 #671 Posted July 12, 2018 It was interesting to hear on the news what President Trump's interpretation of BREXIT is. He believes those who voted to leave the EU wanted out. I think if every poster was honest on here, instead of posting nonsense about what it didn't say on the ballot paper, then we would all agree with President Trump, regardless of the way we personally voted.
