The first birthday celebration of Graves` junior parkrun was really good. A decent turnout but we really ought to have more running and / or another event; Huddersfield has 2 , I believe.

Andrew Burgess-Tupling - After last week's carnage, things returned to a semblance of normality within the region.

This week saw runs at 40/41 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region. The only cancellation being at Goole (which was unaffected by the weather last week).

Total region attendance was 7514; an increase of 2924 (63.7%) from last week.

Of the 23 venues that ran both last week and this, six had an increase in attendance and 17 saw a decrease. Of the 17 parkruns to cancel last week, 16 saw a reduction in attendance from two weeks ago, with just Rotherham seeing an increase in attendance (from 75 to 78).

Fountains Abbey and Woodhouse Moor both had attendances of 340.

Woodhouse Moor became the first Y&H parkrun to achieve 150,000 runners. The milestone runner was Barney Tinsley (265th place).

Doncaster reached 30,000 runners (David Langford, 70th).

Over the region as a whole, the average Saturday parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 23% when compared to the previous year (from 7254 to 8888).

Andrew Burgess-Tupling - As with two weeks ago, ice once again accounted for the cancellation of seven parkruns in the region. That it wasn't more is in part due to the hard work put in by many RDs and volunteers.

This week saw runs at 34/41 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region. The seven cancellations being at Bradford, Graves, Halifax, Horton Park, Huddersfield, Oakwell Hall and Sheffield Hallam.

Total region attendance was 5045; a decrease of 2469 (32.9%) from last week.

Of the 33 venues that ran both last week and this, six had an increase in attendance, 26 saw a decrease and one (Hillsborough (206)) was the same.

Doncaster and Wakefield Thornes both had attendances of 156, Goole and Skipton both had 103, Bramley and Rothwell both had 99.

Hull had their 130,000th all time finisher (Suzanne Clarkson in 297th).

Over the region as a whole, the average Saturday parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 21% when compared to the previous year (from 7303 to 8853).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 192.8, the median is 152.

All runs back on - that's more like it.

‎Andrew Burgess-Tupling‎ to parkrun statsgeek group - With temperatures hovering around 10C at 0900 yesterday, it was around 10C warmer than most places last week.

This meant that the full complement of 42/42 parkruns in the Yorkshire & Humber region were on show.

Total region attendance was 9967; an increase of 5592 (127.8%) from last week. The last time the attendance doubled on consecutive weeks was from 2501 on 31 Jan to 5216 on 07 Feb 2015.

Of the 27 venues that ran both last week and this, 22 had an increase in attendance and five saw a decrease.

The attendances of 622 at Sheffield Hallam and 566 at Huddersfield were unique for the region in the whole history of parkrun.

Normanby Hall had a new record attendance (317).

Cleethorpes' 184th parkrun saw an attendance of 184!

Nostell has had exactly 5000 different people complete their parkrun, Wakefield Thornes 5003.

Rodney Tordoff (89th place) was Bramley's 20,000th ever finisher; Ian Micklethwaite (27th) was Nostell's 30,000th finisher

The region as a whole passed 1,800,000 finishers. This award would go to the 3418th finisher yesterday. Contenders, in 25:55 would be: Jamie Dow (Bradford), Ildi Sorra (Brighouse), Atmaram Dahal (Catterick), Emma Lacey (and possibly an unknown runner, Fountains Abbey), Brian Adams (Graves), David Greaves and Ian Foy (both Harrogate), Hugo Bainbridge (Hull), Gareth Athorn (Pontefract), Claire Martin (Sheffield Hallam) and David Booth (Woodhouse Moor).

Over the region as a whole, the average Saturday parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 20% when compared to the previous year (from 7364 to 8872).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 192.9, the median is 152.

The summary for Christmas Day may be a little delayed (possibly until Boxing Day). I would like to wish all parkrunners, volunteers and members of this group (draw your own Venn diagram to check where you fit) a Happy Christmas.

Its odds on that the Concord Christmas Day run will break their attendance record for the 3rd year in a row?.......................oh yes we did..........................................................................

Andrew Burgess-Tupling.........Happy Christmas!

As has been the case for a lot of weeks this year, Christmas Day was another record breaking day for parkrun across the Yorkshire & Humber region.

There were 18 parkruns, breaking the record of 13 staged for each of the past three years. All 13 staged both last year and this saw an increase in attendance, with Huddersfield setting a Christmas Day record for the region of 566 (beating their own record from last year of 505).

Total region attendance was 4657, another record (cf 3000 in 2015); an increase of 1720 (58.6%) from last year.

Huddersfield's attendance was the same as for the regular parkrun on Saturday.

Concord had their highest attendance (300). This is the fourth consecutive year their record has been set on Christmas Day. These attendances still represent four of Concord's top five attendances.

Over the region as a whole, the average parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 21% when compared to the previous year (from 7379 to 8915).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 193.1, the median is 152.

Andrew Burgess-Tupling - Final update of 2017.

As has been the case for most of the last six weeks, snow and ice decimated Yorkshire and Humber parkruns, resulting in 19 cancellations.

There were 23/42 parkruns, cancellations being registered at: Barnsley, Bradford, Bramley, Brighouse, Catterick, Dalby Forest, Fountains Abbey, Graves, Halifax, Harrogate, Hillsborough, Huddersfield, Northallerton, Nostell, Oakwell Hall, Pontefract, Rother Valley, Sheffield Castle and Skipton.

Of the 23 parkruns staged both last Saturday and this, eight saw an increase in attendance, 15 a decrease.

Total region attendance was 4189, a decrease of 5778 (58.0%) from last week (incidentally 468 lower than Christmas Day).

Dewsbury and Rothwell both had attendances of 140.

Over the region as a whole, the average Saturday parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 18% when compared to the previous year (from 7621 to 9005).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 193.0, the median is 152.

Total regional attendance for the year was 485,615 from 1989 parkruns (mean attendance 244.2).

Sheffield & Derbyshire Doubles - parkrun attendances for 1st January 2018.

152 - Barnsley, 9am

420 - Clumber, 9am

374 - Graves, 9am - Record Attendance

413 - Hillsborough, 10am - Record Attendance

473 - Poolsbrook, 10.30am - Record Attendance

Andrew Burgess-Tupling - I was going to begin this first summary of the new year by asking whether the rate of growth (18%) of parkrunning seen across the Yorkshire and Humber region in 2017 could be continued over the next year. Well, with attendance records being smashed at several locations this morning, it looks like that question has been well and truly answered.

Fortunately, the weather was kind today, allowing 17 parkruns to be staged in the region (10 at 0900, seven at 1030).

Of the 14 parkruns that also staged a NYD run last year, 12 saw an increase in attendance, with just two a decrease (Dewsbury by 12 and Temple Newsam 38).

Seven venues saw new attendance records: Bramley (309), Graves (374), Hillsborough (413), Humber Bridge (555), Nostell (705), Peter Pan (443) and Pontefract (609).

(Humber Bridge, Nostell and Peter Pan broke attendance records set on NYD last year, whereas Dewsbury's record still stands from NYD last year and Temple Newsam from NYD 2016 - we must like running on NYD!)

Total region attendance was 6366, an increase of 2656 (71.6%) from last year (incidentally 2177 (52.0%) higher than the weather affected Saturday).

Further breakdown shows 3074 people completed a run at 0900, 3292 at 1030, with 1494 "doing the double" in the region.

Nostell becomes the sixth Y&H parkrun to have an attendance over 700 (joining Huddersfield (19 times), Sheffield Hallam (11), Hull, Woodhouse Moor and York (once each)). Pontefract's attendance now gives it seventh place in the pecking order.

Over the region as a whole, the average parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 19% when compared to the previous year (from 7478 to 8887).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 193.4, the median is 153.

Only 40 off the benchmark with high attendances all round but no records.

Andrew Burgess-Tupling - The first Saturday of 2018 saw cold, but fine weather, allowing 41/42 parkruns in Yorkshire and Humber region to take place. The only cancellation was Rothwell.

Of the 22 parkruns staged last Saturday, 19 saw an increase in attendance, with just three a decrease (Dewsbury, Horton Park and Selby).

Although no individual venue saw a record attendance, total region attendance was 10941, an increase of 6752 (161.2%) from last Saturday. This is the second highest regional attendance (record is 11035 on 06 May 2017 when there were 38 parkruns).

Bradford had their 110,000th ever finisher (Allison Summers in 295th place).

Over the region as a whole, the average parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 19% when compared to the previous year (from 7509 to 8925).

High attendances all round with the New Year Resolutioners still flooding through the finish funnels. Concord's was their highest if you discount the Christmas day attendances which have no competition from other local runs.

We played our part regionally - Andrew Burgess-Tupling , Continuing recent trends, this week was a record breaker across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

There were 40/42 parkruns in Yorkshire and Humber region, with cancellations at Rothwell and Wetherby.

Of the 40 parkruns also staged last Saturday, 29 saw an increase in attendance, 10 had a decrease and one, Sheffield Castle (71), was the same.

Total region attendance was 11932, an increase of 991 (9.1%) from last Saturday and the highest ever regional attendance (previous record was 11035 on 06 May 2017 when there were 38 parkruns).

Three parkruns saw record attendances: Bradford (563), Rother Valley (367) and Wakefield Thornes (415).

Huddersfield (830) saw the second highest attendance for any parkrun in the region, whereas Sheffiel Hallam (748) had the tenth highest.

Concord had their 20,000th ever finisher (Trevor Pye in 142nd place), Harrogate their 90,000th (John Blundell, 103rd), Sheffield Hallam their 150,000th (Joanna Bartlett, 519th) and Temple Newsam their 40,000th (Ian Verity, 35th).

January 20 at 10:31pm

Rather than continuing the recent trend for further increases in parkrun attendance, sadly ice played havoc across the Yorkshire and Humber region once again - the fourth occasion since the end of November.

Since I started producing this weekly summary about a year ago, today was the first time that there were fewer events ON than cancelled.

There were 19/42 parkruns in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Events staged were: Concord, Cross Flatts, Dalby Forest, Doncaster, Goole, Graves, Hillsborough, Hulll, Humber Bridge, Normanby Hall , Northallerton, Peter Pan, Roundhay, Scunthorpe, Sewerby, Sheffield Castle, Skipton, Temple Newsam and Wetherby.

Of the 18 parkruns also staged last Saturday (no run at Wetherby last week), three (Goole, Normanby Hall and Northallerton) saw an increase in attendance and 15 had a decrease.

Total region attendance was 4060, a decrease of 7872 (66.0%) from last Saturday and the lowest Saturday attendance since 26 Dec 2015.

A couple of near misses stats wise: Doncaster had an attendance of 226 at its 227th run and Wetherby missed out on an attendance record by one!

Barnsley parkrun has been going for seven years, Harrogate for six: both were cancelled today.

Over the region as a whole, the average parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 18% when compared to the previous year (from 7564 to 8899).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 194.2, the median is 154.

Good to see Concord in 3 figures for the third consecutive time.

Many runners made a late dash to different parkruns as Hallam, Rotherham, RVp and Bakewell* were cancelled.

*- After 4 parkrun days Bakewell has a 50/50 record of completions. They are still upbeat and parkrun tourists are still flocking to Hassop. Stick in there Derbyshire woolybacks, it can only get better.

Andrew Burgess-Tupling- Yorkshire scores -

The "Beast from the East" failed to materialise meaning that the promised cold snap was put off for at least a few more days and ensuring that parkrun in the region was unaffected.

There were 43/43 parkruns in the Yorkshire and Humber region for the second week in a row.

Of the 43 parkruns also staged last Saturday, serendipitously 21 saw an increase in attendance, 21 had a decrease with one (Rotherham (83)) being the same. (cf 20 & 20 for last week.)

Andrew Burgess-Tupling, parkrunnstatsgeeks facebook page - - - - -

03-Mar-2018 will go down in parkrun history as a "I was there" moment, or more likely "No, I wasn't."

There were 8/43 parkruns in the Yorkshire and Humber region. This reflected the position nationally, with just 19% (97/506) of parkruns taking place.

Of the 8 parkruns also staged the previous Saturday, one (Roundhay) saw an increase in attendance, seven had a decrease.

Total region attendance was 1684, a decrease of 8648 (83.7%) from last Saturday.

The last time there were fewer than ten parkruns in the region was 26-Jan-2013 - a similarly snowy day - with just 517 runners at seven parkruns (out of 14).

Roundhay's attendance was the second highest nationally and Y&H region parkruns accounted for five of the top 20 attendances.

Over the region as a whole, the average parkrun attendance has increased over the last year by 14% when compared to the previous year (from 7767 to 8843).

The mean number of runners per parkrun over the history of parkrun in the region is 195.2, the median is 155.

7th - 8th April

Andrew Burgess-Tupling‎ to parkrun statsgeek group

A bit of sunshine at last marked the start of April.

There were 41/43 parkruns in the Yorkshire and Humber region this week. Cancellations (due to waterlogged areas) were at Goole and Selby.

Total region attendance was 10000 (yes, I was surprised by that too. At least it’ll be easy to calculate next week’s increase/decrease), an increase of 2063 (26.0%) from last week. Of 40 parkruns also completed last week, 36 had an increase in attendance and four (Dewsbury, Halifax, Harrogate and Skipton) saw a decrease.

There hasn’t been a record attendance anywhere for the last 10 weeks (equalling the record since there have been at least two parkruns in the region. cf 27 Oct - 29 Dec 2012).

Rother Valley and Wakefield Thorne both had an attendance of 305; Dalby Forest and Doncaster had 185; Brighouse and Cross Flatts had 176.

Huddersfield’s attendance of 663 was unique for the region.

Huddersfield, Hull and Sheffield Hallam’s attendances were all in the top ten nationally (thanks to Elliott Line for this).

Exactly 5000 parkruns (out of 9944) over the region’s history have had attendances of 156 or fewer.

The attendance for the last 12 months has increased by 9% when compared to the previous year (from 7996 to 8733).

The mean attendance per parkrun over the history in the region is 195.5; the median is 156.
