Natwest to close 197 branches, 5 in Sheffield.

Recommended Posts

Just been reading the article below from todays Mirror, Natwest are to close 197 branches by the middle of next year costing 680 jobs. What about all the people that are not able to use Internet banking, particularly the elderly what will they do when their local branch closes.

Five of those closures are in Sheffield.

Broomhill

FirthPark

Hillsborough

Millhouses

Woodseats

Plus Stocksbridge and Peniistone.

It was only a matter of time until my branch (Firth Park) closed down. It has already stopped opening on a Wednesday and Saturday. This comes after the Yorkshire Bank 2 doors down closed in the Summer.

..

FirthPark

..

No great loss to the much sought-after village of Firth Park.

I only used their cash machine occasionally, and since Heron Foods opened with an instore ATM, I use it even less.

One more greedy bank closes, proof that Capitalism is on its last legs

Up the workers :hihi:

Is this part of the drive for a 'cashless Society?' Beware.

Or are the greedy banks short of money?

As more people switch to online and mobile banking there is no need for so many branches.
