alchresearch   214 #13 Posted August 14, 2018 Didn't Bargain Booze go out of business?  Nope, bought out by a bigger company, still going strong.
 Share this content via...
housenan   10 #14 Posted August 25, 2018 I now see that the owner of the old video shop has applied for a alcohol license for this property. It seems to me that it is probably a foregone conclusion that he will be successful as already having changed the shop's name to include the words "OFF LICENSE". Just another hang out for the alcoholics and druggies. Is there any wonder that the village has deteriorated over the years. Thank you Sheffield council for another blunder. Thank you Sheffield council for another blunder.  So why don’t you object to the Council? . The notice should tell you how to make an objection and the closing date for doing so. You’ll then have the opportunity in person to speak to the decision makers at a licensing hearing.
 Share this content via...

alchresearch   214 #18 Posted September 12, 2018 According to Facebook, its now a sweet shop. The owner apparently couldn't get a licence.
 Share this content via...
philyyy   10 #19 Posted September 12, 2018 It’s not that hard getting a licence to sell alcohol nowadays unless the police object. Rival business objections or residents saying there are too many off licences are not grounds to deny a licence....  So why don’t you object to the Council? . The notice should tell you how to make an objection and the closing date for doing so. You’ll then have the opportunity in person to speak to the decision makers at a licensing hearing.  This ^ was what I was going to say to that ^^.   Need police to police that and there ain't none round Woodhouse hence all the issues. They may have a clamp down once in a while but that's it  If people weren't ^&*&*&* then the police wouldn't be needed at all. Many people become &&^&^ when they have drink so don't see any reason to give them more access to booze. Having said that it will now be a sweet shop. Sweets are nice. The Joker   10 #22 Posted September 12, 2018 Strange area Woodhouse.  is it still a village ?  It might have been a one hundred years ago, when I were a wee lass, but eey by eck, ah'll tell thee summat for nowt, t'city council's unstoppable encroachment to the South and East o' t'city in the years since then mean it's taken a fair chunk o'the Derbyshires under its reach.  I'm suspect that at the current rate of assimiliation, the ten-bob millionaires of Dronefield will be joining us in our Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire superstate next year, whether they like it or not.  Welcome, Comrades
 Share this content via...
