Sheffield gains most from overseas students.

Recommended Posts

There are a few Irish students around, but has anyone come across any German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish etc. students in the last 10-15 years? Compared to the hundreds and hundreds of Chinese, Malaysian, Indian and Americans you meet everywhere.

My department has loads of PhD students from the EU as well as further afield - Italy, Portugal, Spain and The Netherlands to name just a few.

Admittedly there are less EU undergraduates, but we do get a few every year. For how much longer, we shall see......

Like it or not, the campaign leading up to the referendum and the post-result period has led to a steep rise in hate crimes against foreigners - up well over 100% since 2015. It has brought out the nasty side of people, has turned large parts of the country into places which foreigners should stay well away from, and this is shameful. We saw this brain-dead idiocy in full bloom on that Question Time from Barnsley, which made us look like a nation of backward, foreigner-hating moronic hicks. Those who wanted Brexit are responsible for that - Brexiteers, the Brexit-supporting press and media, prominent Brexit cheerleaders and Brexit politicians. A Labour MP was murdered in cold blood because of this.

What a load of old rubbish,do you really believe that everybody who voted for brexit are all knuckle dragging tattooed Nazi's.Everybody voted for brexit for different reasons not because were racist.Would you walk up to Dennis Skinner or Sol Campbell,Liz Hurley or maybe Ian Botham and call them racists.

Xenophobe. He could of course be a racist, he could also be ignorant.

We managed to survive before man discovered fire. It doesn’t follow that we would be better off without it though does it.

All these people we are teaching to fish instead of selling fish to, they will soon be teaching one another to fish so both industries are lost in the uk.

Its even worst as many university students work with companies like Rolls-Royce, they take their development back home, already there is a growing jet turbine industry in china. RR can try to put up a "great fire-wall of china" to try to protect their development and which will no doubt reduce their university sponsorship.

As a business they will try to survive by investing in Chinese companies but that's just a financial thing, money for the Blairs and Brown types and their mates, no real jobs in uk.

Enjoy while it lasts.

If you must, but remember the majority had the say over the minority.Remainers should vent their anger at David Cameron for giving us horrible working class thicko's a vote.Perhaps you would prefer us to go back to the Elizabethan times when only noblemen got to vote.

Id prefer for the ignorant to listen to reasoned argument based on facts and truth, rather than the diatribe of misinformation and lies, which encourages them to blame all of lifes woes on easy targets, thus preventing them from realising the true culprits responsible for their ongoing exploitation and misery.

The true culprits for spreading lies and misinformation? Well, you'd have to look at the leave campaign and the right wing press primarily wouldn't you.

How did you come to that guess, and just how do you measure the average intelligence of a population?
