There are rumours that trains operated by WCRC might be cancelled. Please check beforehand.

WCRC have been suspended by Network Rail for 8 weeks with effect from midnight tonight.

Network Rail statement - more details are given in the downloadable document at the bottom of the statement

---------- Post added 03-04-2015 at 13:02 ----------

Latest from WCRC suggests that all tours are going ahead but with a different train operator, the important line being

"all trips remain unaffected and will run as normal under licence of another

operator, using the same vintage Mk2 carriages, passengers will not be affected and all

schedules including the Jacobite will continue as normal."

The train has been cancelled, see; http://www.uksteam.info/tours/trs15.htm

And the future of the British main steam train operator, West Coast Railways, seems to hang in the balance, currently weighing heavily against it! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/11530499/Off-the-rails.html

That aside, if anyone is interested in heritage diesels then a "Rarities" gala is taking place this weekend at Barrow Hill near Staveley (not exactly Sheffield, I know). Some great exhibits to see and ride behind, trade stall, good beer, cab rides and more besides.
