Probably true, but in these uber PC times it's not the done thing to say so. That's not to say white guys or any other colour don't carry knives because they certainly do. Time to alter the law on this one, any one found with a knife gets a five year stretch, with five years to serve, no reductions of any kind. Maybe that will deter the knife carrier.

Some PC people have tied themselves in knots. Stopping black people to search for knives is known a racial profiling, which is a very bad thing apparently. Unfortunately the victims of knife crime in London are also very often black.

So wariness of being accused of racism or being guilty of racial profiling is resulting in the deaths of more young men, often young black men, in London.

Because the theory is more important than reality.

That's the thing on QT they said that 8 out of 10 stopped were black but not one said well it's probably 8 out of 10 with knives are black.

But your 'solution' doesn't fit the discussion. In order to convict someone of having a knife, they have to be "found with a knife" (your words). How do we find knives?

Do we:

1) agree to allow the 'stop and search' as it currently is

2) Allow stop and search searches to fit the demographics in the neighbourhood against knife crime in the neighbourhood? This would not necessarily be racial profiling but it would ensure that the 'random' searches were at least in proportion somewhat to the risk/chances of that person carrying a crime?

The above are just two ideas, not ones I particularly feel passionate about either way. But I feel they are more on topic than altering the law to increase jail time.

The London murder rates are being compared with New York at the moment. Stop and search has dropped through the floor in NY.

I would step UP stop and search, how else would you find the knife carrying criminals.

Stop and search is no racist. That's how we make safe neighborhoods. I personally wouldn't mind.

You might not mind once, but a couple of times week?

Anyway, here's a link showing NY stop and search figures vs London.

If blacks and ethnics are so bothered by stop and search then the answer is simple.

Dont carry weapons and engage with the people in their local community who do carry weapons.

If these wannabe ganstaz don't want to be engaged with by their own people then shop them to the police.
