The Owls injuries

Recommended Posts

Just thought it would be interesting to talk about the injuries currently blighting the Owls.

Does anybody have any stats for how long players have been out? i'm sure somebodys collected the data out there somewhere lol.

Most seem to have been out for 2 or 3 months..longer in FFs case.

also Jos today mentioned Westwood needed an operation and i know FF already has had one, anybody else actually know if any are that bad?

To be honest Mel, all I seem to remember is players being substituted or applauded at the end of their spell, only to discover that they'll be out for 2 years.

I don't remember seeing them get injured, but if they did, it was 'just a knock '.

One Hell of a knock if you ask me.......

Let's face it, you'd have to have been hit by a bus to be out as long as Foresteri.

Westwood, Hutchinson, Lee and Fletcher had injury issues long before joining the Owls and it appears we took the gamble and are now paying the price.

Could these injuries have been caused by the part synthetic pitch. There is most likely an underlying cause for so many serious injuries. Crystal Palace have a mass of injuries and they have a part synthetic pitch.

Maybe some of them aren't really injuries but players who are don't really want to play but still want to get paid? It happens at a lot of clubs.

surely the medical staff can work out a real injury from a fake? if its officially sanctioned thats another matter and theres rumours for those too.

I find it all very hard to believe. It may just be a massive coincidence, but surely the more likely scenario is either some monumental failings of the physio and medical teams, or some dodgy goings on behind the scenes.

Some of our players are on the older side, it sounds like the training under CC was a bit lax and it’s caught up with us, older players recovery time is longer.

FF had a cruciate ligament injury which is about the worst a footballer can get, Kieran Lee has a recurring hip problem that if rumours are to be believed could finish him, Hooper and Lees are about the closest to a return.

FF has an ACL injury, same as winnall, its a 9 month lay off,hes suffered an illness while in rehab,it occured last season, but the med team said an op wasnt needed,he played on it got worse, rested it pre season, trained, felt same pain and it was decided an op was needed.

hutch is currently back in training has knee issues as we know, but is recovering from a hernia op,should return to full training before months end,Lee had a hip op last term, came back too early,to help in play offs games, aggrivated old injury, has had further surgery, will return only when fit,his words, hopefully march.

Lees picked up an injury this season, close to full fitness,Bannan went to see specialist monday for all clear to return to full training, van aken has a hamstring injury, has a history of strains at previous club, suffered a setback.

Fletcher has a persistent knee injury, wont play again this season,Hooper is back in training, close to full, has a recurring hip/back issue thats followed him all his career

Westwood has a historical back/hip complaint, may require surgery, recovery time unknown.

Wallace has a quad strain and is in recovery, light training

Loovens has a quad injury that hes playing through and is light training

Hunt has a torn thigh muscle thats almost healed, historical

All The Owls fans need some clear information about what is happening with the players and injuries at the club and why is Foresteri allowed to get fit some where else instead of back in Sheffield,Jos deserves a lot of praise for giving the young players at the club to prove themselves as Carlos stuck with is same group of players who never got dropped even if they played rubbish,so the players never got worried of losing there position in the team, that is why we got worse instead of better
