Hi folks,

It has been suggested that the interest in predictions might be extended to cover the World Cup.

Whilst I think it is a good idea, there are several reasons why I cannot undertake to support this:

1) The software that I have developed has been specifically engineered to handle a maximum of 6 matches. If the World Cup schedule results in more than 6 matches per day, my software cannot handle it. To allow for more matches would require considerable re-working, and for a competition that comes around very 4 years, the extra effort cannot be justified. It is already a large program at more than 6000 lines of VB code.

2) I'll be taking a holiday outside the UK and I don't expect to take my iMac with me. Although Excel is fairly portable, my software cannot run on an iPhone or iPad as Apple will not allow user code to run in any app that runs on iOS.

3). Supporting the Local 6 Predictions League is fairly time-consuming and I reckon I'm due a break from it to re-charge my batteries.

If interest is that keen, perhaps someone else would like to step in ?

There is another issue that has recently cropped up. There will be 1 less team in the local 6 league with the relegation of Chesterfield. There are several options, not necessarily restricted to the following:

a). retain Chesterfield in whatever league they are in next season

b). pick another local (ish) league side. If so, who ?

c). pick another team not classed as local but supported by a long-term stalwart of the predictions league. I'm talking about Middlesbrough for our mate Mooks of course.

d). select a specific match from (say) the Championship that looks particularly juicy

Would participants like to mull this over and come back with ideas.

Cheers
