Crosser   10 #1 Posted February 20, 2012 Frey-Bentos Steak & Kidney Pies  I love them, they are succulent and very very tasty, but most of all they are one of the few reminders of my childhood which still taste remotely similar.   Do you like them?   Is there any other snap around today which whisks you back to your childhood?  Please discuss  (Makes a change from all the whinging threads)
 Share this content via...

mort   10 #7 Posted February 21, 2012 I think a nice deep fried french wasp garnish goes well with a fray bentos pie.
 Share this content via...
Draggletail   60 #8 Posted February 21, 2012 Ah, Fray Bentos tinned pies with a sort of "meant to be crusty but soggy underneath pastry topping!" Didn't know they still made them!  You used to get the gristly bits (it was the cows appendix, I'm sure)  Haven't had one for years, they turned me veggie  I used to love my mum's home made tapioca pudding though and many can't stomach that (not my mum's, just in general)
 Share this content via...
Leah-Lacie   10 #9 Posted February 21, 2012 I just made a lovely school dinner style cheese flan  Never liked Fray Bentos  Btw, Draggetail, did you go to JTF? x
 Share this content via...

Are those the things with 'tubes' in that you bake in its own tin? Must be more than 20yrs since I had one of them.:gag:  I'd rather suck sewage through a tramps sweaty sock. Are those the things with 'tubes' in that you bake in its own tin?  Were the 'tubes' pieces of vein?  I'd rather suck sewage through a tramps sweaty sock.  That's probably available at a very reasonable price
 Share this content via...
