tzijlstra   11 #5 Posted August 11, 2015 Did you have it done at Lookers? Was a pretty shocking account of their horrible service on here not too long ago.  If it is coming from the side that ought to have been fixed, have who ever did it look at it again and make sure they understand trading standards. Cyclone   10 #7 Posted August 12, 2015 Worth checking that the wheel is actually secure, I've had a knocking before that turned out to be the wheel nuts not actually tightened up after leaving the garage. They were just put in finger tight and the wheel was knocking as it rocked when I turned.
 Share this content via...
geared   301 #8 Posted August 12, 2015 Was the correct side replaced?  Last CV joint I had done I could swear blind it was the drivers side that had gone. The problem was on the passenger side :o  ---------- Post added 12-08-2015 at 10:52 ----------  Wheel bearing?  Wheel bearings humm, or drone usually. I'd be really worried if it was knocking.  Usually it's steering arm bushes, or balljoints, or sometimes anti-roll bar bushes or drop links that make a knocking noise.  CV joints tap/knock/buzz when turning and the speed of the noise is relative to your road speed, which helps differentiate the problem from other possibilities. The problem was on the passenger side :o  ...which is precisely why I asked! I've known several people have the wrong side diagnosed before. RootsBooster   24 #11 Posted August 12, 2015 I had that happen to me once. As for the OP problem its sounding like the wheel bearing  No, it really doesn't! As has already been mentioned, a bearing will hum, whine or sometimes rumble when worn.  To the OP, is the knocking rhythmic or sporadic? Cyclone   10 #12 Posted August 12, 2015 Hopefully he's checked the wheel nuts by now... Or maybe he's not posting because his wheel fell off and he can't get to a computer.
 Share this content via...
