Car electrical fault

Can anyone help me with this problem please? I have just started to have trouble when I try to start my wife's car it turns over ok but sometimes won't start then if I turn off the ignition then back on again it starts ok, I have also started the car and it has then stalled. I have also found it to judder like its misfiring when driving, Has anyone got any idea what could be my problem?

I would first off make sure battery connections are clean and tight.

What make/model?

Hyundai Atos.

If its got one my first instinct would be the EGR valve, Failing that it could be the igniter or main relay/circuit opening relay or coil pack, these would all cause this fault. Also are the plugs/leads ok? and is the engine lamp on?

Thankyou both for getting back to me, all the lights on the dash come on ok. I have been looking online and someone mentioned that the fuel pump might be the culprit. What do you think?.

Yes could be a fuel related problem also.

Many find diagnosing these types of problems really difficult when they can hear the car running, if you are a newbie there is little hope online.

The issue you describe could also be a faulty diesel temperature sensor, but without knowing whether your car is a diesel, could be pointless.

A decent diagnostic - with reading of live data - will tell you the answer. No point going on other people's experiences and wasting time, money and parts in the vain hope you fix it.
