Guest #1 Posted July 11, 2018 I’ve looked on the First website and it seems that the X78 is the quickest bus route from central Sheffield to Meadowhall, is this right? Also would I be able to use a First Week Sheffield for this journey as I believe Meadowhall is technically slightly closer to Rotherham than Sheffield and my bus pass just covers Sheffield. Yorkie2000 10 #2 Posted July 11, 2018 Either X78 or X1 are the buses required depending where in Sheffield you're wanting to catch it X78(Every 15mins) Sheffield Interchange X1(Every 10mins) Moorfoot, Arundel Gate. Then both stop opposite Co-op near old Markets. There is very little time wise how long they take X78 is probably slightly quicker but only by a few minutes. Both operated by First and yes you can use a First week Sheffield between Sheffield and Meadowhall. Frequency quoted is daytime frequency. Michael_N 36 #5 Posted July 11, 2018 Not much in it to be honest, X1 runs direct through Attercliffe and X78 runs direct through Brightside. X1 goes from Eyre Street ES3 (Moor Markets), Charles Street CS3 (Genting Casino), Arundel Gate AG5 (Travel Centre), Castle Street CG22 (Hen and Chickens pub) or Wicker WK1 (Wicker Pharmacy). X78 goes from Interchange C3, Castle Street CG22 (Hen and Chickens pub) or Wicker WK1 (Wicker Pharmacy). Both take around 20 mins and are just as quick as the tram, depending on traffic - they are also cheaper than the tram for most tickets - including the £1.20 student single. X1s every 10 mins Monday to Saturday or 20 mins Sunday (daytimes) X78s every 15 mins Monday to Saturday or 20 mins Sunday (daytimes)
 Share this content via...
Guest busdriver1 #6 Posted July 11, 2018 X78 is less prone to congestion than the X1 that has had its timetable "doctored" to make it appear as viable as the X78.
 Share this content via...
Guest #7 Posted July 13, 2018 Thanks all for the advice. I ended up getting the X1 to Meadowhall and the X78 back into Sheffield. The journey time for the X78 was about five minutes quicker on this occasion but the bus stop for the X1 on Arundal Gate was a little more convenient for me. Not sure where the X1 stops in the city centre on it’s way back but both services seems a good alternative to the tram.
 Share this content via...
