What Is Wing Chun Kung Fu?

Wing Chun Kung Fu is a close quarter Chinese fighting system first seen demonstrated in the West by movie star legend Bruce Lee. It was brought from China to Hong Kong in 1949 by Bruce Lee’s teacher, Grandmaster Ip Man (aka Yip man). Wing Chun was created by Shaolin nun, Ng Mui, in the 17th century and named after her first student, Yim Wing Chun. It has been passed on and developed by successive masters to become what it is today, a unique fighting system. It is characterised by using the most direct lines for attack and defence and combines explosive punches, elbows, palms, chops and mid to low section kicks.

Hi Danny,

No you would not need to start from the beginning.

I would just check on what level your at and take it from there.

Class would be split from new starters to advanced levels.

Hope this helps

Regards

Lee

When it comes to martial arts, wing chun is second only to tai chi in not requiring fitness (of the cardiovascular variety).

Hi Susie,

The style of Wing Chun does not require you to be mega fit but will help the practitioner to tone up and improve general fitness.

having said that i do taylor a programme for the individual so if its a fitness improvement we can work on that while learning a practical self defence.

best thing is to pop along to the demo night and all are welcome to try a taster lesson after Demo.

Regards

Lee
