ez8004   10 #37 Posted August 21, 2018 These new cards come with a "ray tracing engine". It's something that even the current generation of cards, 1080 Ti couldn't hope to match in real time. Comparing them to consoles is like comparing a Ferrari to a clapped out 2001 Mondeo. The shots of with and without RT enabled are quite impressive.  Any graphics engines out there that exploits RT for the new cards to get going on? I was very impressed by 3dfx cards 20 years ago, I liked GeForce 256, spend almost 2 months salaries on that one back in the day, I absolutely loved it. Radeon 8500, Gf4 ti and all that direct x 8, T&L etc.  I am watching now ray tracing and I don't feel nothing special. It's nice, but there is that "seen it all before feeling". Because RT until now was something that took seconds per frame, or minutes or hours per frame, depending on how complex and how far back in time you go.
