Under The Stars present free DJ Lessons

Under The Stars are pleased to announce a free 22 week DJ course teaching all the essential skills for aspiring DJs and including the opportunity to DJ at their disability friendly nightclub.

 

Under The Stars is runs events at The Hubs in Sheffield and several music workshops that have created bands, DJs and music producers. Under The Stars has received help and support from Toddla T, Jarvis Cocker, Martyn Ware (Heaven 17), Mark Herbert and Shane Meadows (Warp Films), Peter and Paul and many more.

 

The latest project from Under The Stars is a 22 week DJ course that is completely free to attend. The course will develop technical DJ skills, teach about music selection, how to play to audiences, how to record and promote a mix tape and signpost future opportunities for aspiring DJs.

 

We’re looking for fans of house, DnB, bassline, dubstep, techno, jungle, hardcore and all other electronic music. Do you want to learn how to DJ professionally?

 

The course is free but only available to certain people. You must be;-

- Over 19 years old

- Unemployed or receiving Disability Living Allowance

 

If you get paid money for working 8 hours or more each week or you go to college for more than 8 hours each week then you cannot attend this course.

 

The course takes place every Tuesday at The Burton Street Foundation (57 Burton Street, Hillsborough, Sheffield, S6 2HH) from 10am until 3pm.

A lovely charity and I wish you well, you do a hell of a lot of worthwhile work for people with disabilities that otherwise wouldn't be available at all. Keep it up!

As soon as I saw this thread, I said to a friend that within 5 posts, someone would be benefit bashing. But good ole Sheffield Forum easily beat that!

It's not benefit bashing, i'm just curious to why they discriminate against the working folk (who probably fund most of it).
