phil752 Â Â 10 #1 Posted November 7, 2018 Didn't realize how small the elected office of the US is: 100 in the Senate and 435 in the House or Representatives. We have 800 in the Lords "not elected" and 650 MP's elected, given the the US representatives is only a 2 year term, so very representative of the peoples opinion. With the and again the elected Senate term of 6 years. The question is and the UK is the size of some states in the US. Why do we have 1450 people at present, while they have 550? But like the corrupt EU, Turkey's don't vote for Christmas do they. Â Angel1
 Share this content via...

Longcol   604 #5 Posted November 7, 2018 in a way so do we with the welsh and Scottish parliament  Not really - that would be like devolving some powers to Alaska and Hawaii but not to the rest of states in the USA.
 Share this content via...

Each state is governed by its own respective elected upper and lower houses along with the executive which includes the governorship. Your attempt to draw parallels with the UK is laughable. You might like to read about the government of Texas for example - it has 254 county governments and 1,209 municipal (town / city) governments to start with!  http://www.wwnorton.com/college/polisci/governingtexas/ch/13/outline.aspx
 Share this content via...
