iansheff   88 #1 Posted July 5, 2018 Have been clearing the shed out and found a large container with what I believe to be powdered lime, which must be over 35 years old. Anyone any idea what is the best way to dispose of it?
 Share this content via...

iansheff   88 #3 Posted July 5, 2018 Yes I had thought of that, just wondered if anyone had got rid of some before. Will mail them.
 Share this content via...
feargal   21 #4 Posted July 5, 2018 We had a barrel of old damp proof fluid, which was full of horrific banned chemicals. I rang the council, who sent me to Gleadless tip, as they deal with controlled chemicals. Turned up and had to argue with the tip chap, because he didn't think they took it. I'd gone fore armed though, and he gave in eventually!
 Share this content via...
Rhyno   10 #5 Posted July 5, 2018 Just dig it into your soil and plant hydrangeas.  Sheffield soil is mostly acidic, the lime will neutralise the soil.  If you don’t want to do that, post on the Allotment section. Someone will take it off your hands.  Edit: I mean the lime, not the damp proof fluid
 Share this content via...
