The high-performance supercar manufacturer will open a Composites Technology Centre at the North of England’s Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District within the Sheffield City Region.

Wish it was the F1 side if the business. I would be applying like a shot. Great news for Sheffield. McLaren will build a beautiful looking, green and futuristic building. Shame that it will not be seen by most people as its at the old airport.

All the new development is on the Sheffield side of the border, factory 2050 . The Rotherham land has got too expensive since the Waverly site development so the University seems to be concentrating on the old airport site.

Just so you are not disappointed.

Ohh, it wont be like the old days of full employment. Smelters, getting smoked and burned, passing out from the fumes, steelworks, belching out black smoke, smog every winter and black smoke turning the snow and the washing grey and the bronchitis killing more people in Brightside and Grimesthorpe than the rest of the country put together. And all those women at the factory gates waiting for the wage packets so they could put some food on the table for the five kids, before it got into the pub Landlord's till. No those days are long gone, when he came home from the pub to find his tea dried out or even burned in the black leaded range oven, the kids tucked up in bed with a hot brick at their feet and the missus sat by the fire waiting to throw it at him.

What a great piece of news. I wonder if the finance executive have had a clause written in that says if it doesn't make a profit within a certain time limit it will take on any debt. or something as equally daft as they did with the airport.
