lil-minx92 Â Â 10 #1 Posted December 5, 2014 So I visited the decidedly lacklustre Xmas market on Fargate last weekend and standing near the bar stall at the top of Fargate is probably Sheffields finest building-the town hall..far from lighting it up to show it in all its glory it sat in darkness with a little red merry Christmas sign over the entrance. Is it normally lit up? If not it certainly should be.
 Share this content via...

lil-minx92 Â Â 10 #3 Posted December 5, 2014 It's Christmas ! Putting up loads of Xmas lights but overlooking the jewel in the city centres crown is like serving up all the trimmings and forgetting the turkey! 'who's in charge here'!?Lol
 Share this content via...
Happ Hazzard   10 #4 Posted December 5, 2014 SCC have their priorities all messed up. The Crooked Spire in Chesterfield is always lit up in the evening and it looks amazing.
 Share this content via...
Guest   #5 Posted December 5, 2014 It would definitely look great with some uplighters around the building. As would a lot of other buildings around that area.
 Share this content via...

Nagel   10 #8 Posted December 6, 2014 Perhaps it's not lit up at night because you can see it perfectly well in the daytime?  Why does it need lighting up in the night?
 Share this content via...
AndrewC   307 #9 Posted December 6, 2014 Perhaps it's not lit up at night because you can see it perfectly well in the daytime? Why does it need lighting up in the night?  Brilliant. That's textbook Yorkshire thriftiness there.
 Share this content via...
Fogey   10 #10 Posted December 6, 2014 Cost presumably. The Town Hall does have a fantastic lighting scheme installed which works beautifully in conjunction with the one for the peace gardens, but imagine the bill for all that. bessmeg   10 #12 Posted December 6, 2014 Been said time and time again on here, sheffield great place great city great people, very little done to promote attract or encourage people in by the powers that be. I went to "la tour" not a cycle fan at all but what a great day ,very poorly promoted in this area, rescued by locals in the main, what really struck me was the number of people visiting saying what a lovely place they thought it was! It's time somebody got off their backsides and did something to promote this city to tourists and businesses alike to the benefit of all.
