sisaogirl   10 #1 Posted February 18, 2016 It's been a while since I've popped in here but thought I'd come on to remind all the rockers out there to tune in to Spirit of the Wapentake on Wednesday eve's from 5-7pm on SheffieldLive.org or 93.2fm, Community Radio. We're always looking for bands to interview and for your gigs to pop into our gig guide so be great to hear from you! We also gave away over £1000 worth of tickets in the last year to see big names such as The Prodigy, Terrorvision, The Stranglers and more!  Don't forget to tune in  Graham Marshall, Sinead Rankin Sheffield! Spirit of the Wapentake!
 Share this content via...

I went there in '73-74 and met my wife there (still with her and still rockin!) It became a nightclub or something not long after and has been empty for a while. The whole block, consisting of Grosvenor House and the shops underneath is very run-down and is currently being demolished as part of a re-development of the centre, although there hasn't been much publicity around this lately. Â Hi Andy, funny you should meet your wife at that time and still be together. I met my wife in Crazy Daizies in1974, , and we are also still together .My main memory of the Wapentake was on a bachelor night in 1967. 12 of us went in there and the lad who was holding the kitty was also ordering the drinks. Anyway we were all jabbering away and laughing a little loud, even though it was only our second stop, suddenly the landlord said to my mate ,as he was pouring the last pint," If you lot don't quieten it down you can sup these and get out". Next thing I know my mate shouts out," come on lads we have been booted out". We left with a whole slew of pints, black and tans etc. standing on the bar. Livi1D Â Â 10 #6 Posted April 7, 2016 During my drive home yesterday I was reminded of what a great show Graham Marshall & Sinead Rankin Sheffield Live's presenters of Spirit of the Wapantake put on. I may be wrong but I'm sure I was listening in to this more than 10 years ago. How time flies! Especially from the good ol' days of the real Wapentake. Aah.
