Chelle-82 Â Â 10 #2 Posted February 20, 2018 Well Really we don't need a god.. Â What people do need is comfort and to most that means believing in some made up diety to help them get through life and not die in fear of there being nothing after this life.. TimmyR Â Â 10 #3 Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Why do we need a god? Buddhists manage OK without one. Â Technically budhists don't have a deity but the budha is pretty much one and budhism has all the ingredients of a religion. So I'm going to disagree with you on that one. Â Now then atheists, they don't have a god. Â The reason people need religion is to cope with the certainty that everything is utterly pointless and to help their tiny minds (we all have tiny minds) cope with the enormous complexity, illogicalness and unfairness of existence. Without it we only have nihilism. Edited February 20, 2018 by TimmyR
 Share this content via...
Top Cats Hat   10 #4 Posted February 20, 2018 Arrogance lol.  Like every other creature on this planet, when we are gone that's it. It is an arrogance to think that we are so special that there is something more for us when we are gone.  Ashes to ashes, dust to dust! We are the only creature to have the intelligence to understand that we exist and therefore to have fear of that existence ending. pattricia   574 #8 Posted February 20, 2018 We don’t need a God when living with youth and good health but when we are old and ill most people suddenly decide that they do need God after all.
 Share this content via...
Halibut   12 #9 Posted February 20, 2018 Why do we need an answer, or explaination?  Because it's inherent in the human condition to look for reasons, to find patterns, to try and explain the unknowable.
 Share this content via...
