Bare knuckle fights

Hi

Does anyone remember the bare knuckle fights in Sheffield?

If so does anyone know of someone fighting under the name of - 'cheesecake charlie'? His proper name was James Edward Davies commonly known Eddie if this help[s

I assume you mean staged fights with an audience, as I am sure most of us have seen and probably been involved in quite a few bare-knuckle scraps in our time. :D Just out of curiosity what timeframe are we looking at.

If we are looking at the early 1930s my dad used to fight as Kid Socks but I can't remember him mentioning Ceesecake Charlie good luck

I used to work with a large guy called John Gee who said he used to do bare knuckling, sometimes at the back of the Roxy nightclub.

Danny Shenton in the 1960’s, was Doncaster based but spent a lot of time in Sheffield, I believe that he fought in big money bare knuckle fights in the USA, none of the regular Sheffield hard men would go anywhere near him in anger.
