gustavowoltm   10 #1 Posted March 14, 2016 Hi I started to get some basic warhammer stuff together for my kids but found the cost was to much. Has anyone any ideas what would be a cheaper solution? Any help would be good. Thanks
 Share this content via...
Ghozer   112 #2 Posted March 14, 2016 Often buying the older sets, different (older) revisions, pre-painted ones, models with mistakes etc......  or, save up, invest in a 3D Printer, and create your own versions!
 Share this content via...
Waco Kid   10 #3 Posted March 24, 2016 Warhammer is one set of rules and accompanying models produced by one company (Games Workshop). The broader wargaming hobby has thousands of sets of rules and hundreds of companies producing models. Many of them are considerably better and considerably cheaper that Warhammer.  What kind of thing are your kids interested in? Fantasy? Science Fiction? History? They could play with Vikings, Romans, knights in armour or with tanks or battleships.  Check out Wargames Emporium in Orchard Square for ideas. Waco Kid   10 #5 Posted March 24, 2016 Try Patriot Games (now relocated to Union Street, Sheffield) or Sheffield Board Gamers. http://www.patriotgames.ltd.uk/store/ http://www.sheffieldboardgamers.com/  Whilst I wouldn't want to do anything to discourage people from shopping at Patriot Games (it's an excellent store), in the context of the OP I think I should point out that they aren't primarily a vendor of gaming miniatures and that those they do sell tend towards the beautifully-sculpted-but-expensive end of the market.  If the kids (or parent) are up to putting together plastic kit-style figures, the Gripping Beast or Perry Miniatures boxed sets represent excellent value for money at about £20 for about 40 figures. Estarriol   10 #6 Posted June 1, 2017 Dang, wish I had seen this last week, Sheffield had a wargames show (Chillcon) have a look at the website with links to traders.  If you want GW stuff (as many do) look around online and at Fleabay.
