Best place for a picnic

Recommended Posts

We're wanting to go for a picnic today with our 5 year old son. Where would you recommend? We were thinking of rother valley or rivelin.

Thanks

If you can get there I'd go to Cannon Hall , the grounds are huge and a lovely place in the week to go.

Not so nice at weekends as full of beer swilling tattooed types (and thats just the women !!) having bar-b-q's. lol

how about botanical gardens? Nice and central, shouldn't be too busy as its a week day...

plenty of nice secluded areas to get away from the sun if needed.

Rother valley is always covered in goose turds it's not very nice at all for the kids to run about.

Graves park on the field below the cafe is nice.

The Cricket ground at Low Bradfield

Lots of space for kid to run around in (apart from cricket square of course) lovely countryside location .Dam Flask walk next door and good country pubs nearby for parents if required .Village shop sells lovely ice creams .Gets my vote

Weston Park, Padley Gorge at Longshaw, Millhouses Park, Botanical Gardens

Padley Gorge has to be the best place on a hot day for a five year old. For anyone not knowing it, it is on the road which runs down from Fox House to Grindleford. Past Longshaw. Where else can children play safely in natural water making dams, and playing pooh sticks. All my grandchildren love the place.
