fill   10 #409 Posted August 13, 2018 I think we know collectively that they haven't been used at all. It is compliant with the contract because the council failed their due diligence and left it to the discretion of amey when to use the engineering solutions detailed in the contract.  good points.  the contracts allow and have allowed amey to get away with alsorts from the onset which in my opinion raises lots of questions about the people who were involved at every level of the contracts from their drawing up top completion and their relationship with amey.  read carefully.... im accusing no person of anything i'm only passing on my opinion. Sat-Aer UK Â Â 10 #410 Posted August 15, 2018 (edited) You should see the state of the roads that are getting done around Norton Lees at the moment. Roads done but with potholes left, some roads with signs saying loose chippings and raised manholes so obviously not finished but then they have painted road markings, and drainage grates covered. I had to take photos otherwise nobody would believe it. Edited August 15, 2018 by Sat-Aer UK spelling mistake
 Share this content via...
John_S6 Â Â 10 #411 Posted August 28, 2018 So Amey in their wisdom [/sarcasm] have decided to do the resurfacing of the shoddy resurfacing work on Walkley Lane and Ripley Street for the whole of this week - during the day! Absolutely no sense in this and they're reopening it at night 7pm-7am, surely it's far more logical to do this the other way round and work overnight to minimise disruption, as they did the first time they attempted it? Doing it and closing it in the day means not only no 52 bus to Hillsborough and Wisewood residents, but also major problems for residents in the vicinity. Â If the whole of Walkley Lane (up to the junction with Walkley Road near the Florist) and Ripley Street are closed at the same time as they seemed to be this morning it means that residents of at least 12 roads (Kirkstone, Bowness, Lonsdale, Bessingby, Carnaby, Speeton, Singleton x3, Trickett, top part of Hammerton Rd and Hammerton Close), not to mention emergency services, are unable to come or go by car from 7am-7pm (assuming that those bollards are still dividing Hammerton Road, I haven't been down there for a while). Â Plus those of us who live on one of the streets off the bottom of Walkley Lane are able to get up to Crookes via a large detour around Malin Bridge but because of the one way streets at the bottom we aren't actually able to return home in our cars after work! Daven   10 #412 Posted August 28, 2018 Probably because the residents of said streets complained about the noise during the night last time - just a thought. No pain no gain - everyone is having to cope with the disruption for a few days.
 Share this content via...
Rivelin6 Â Â 11 #413 Posted August 28, 2018 Yes, we had to be inconvenienced last time so why should we again because Amey does shoddy work and the Council signed it off. What did people do without cars, oh yes they walked or used public transport!
 Share this content via...

nanoffive   10 #416 Posted August 28, 2018 (edited) What did they do when the 52 stopped at Crookes before it was extended to Hillsborough and Wisewood?  Before the 52a was extended to Wisewood there used to be the S6a and S6a buses from Hillsborough and the 14 bus from town to Wisewood and Loxley. They were all taken off. Edited August 28, 2018 by nanoffive
 Share this content via...

Cyclone   10 #418 Posted August 29, 2018 If you work in Crookes from Walkley then you could just walk up for a few days, doesn't sound like the end of the world!  Everyone has had to suffer some disruption from road resurfacing. John_S6 Â Â 10 #419 Posted August 29, 2018 Hmmm, let me hazard a guess and say that those making the "stop moaning" type posts don't actually live in the vicinity and aren't affected. Â Point being, the way Amey is doing it is causing needless and avoidable disruption for a large number of residents. They don't need to close off the whole stretch of road for the week as they are doing. They could do the Ripley Street to Walkley Lane section one day and keep the rest open - minimal disruption and residents have access to alternate routes. Then the next section up - minimal disruption. Then the next - minimal disruption. Or do the work overnight as they did initially - no disruption at all during peak times. But by closing the whole stretch for the week they're preventing everyone on the 12 roads above from using their cars for the whole time during the day. Â But I guess that like some posters on here they don't do things like actually thinking before acting...
 Share this content via...
