Newhall Road and Sanderson Street

Recommended Posts

Anyone have pictures of Newhall Road or Sanderson Street around 1920s? I can find plenty of images of Attercliffe but nothing specific for these two areas where my Grandparents lived.

Thanks

Thanks Kidorry - I never realised they were such substantial houses - can't imagine why they were all demolished - when you think what the 'replacements' turned out to be like.

My mum lived at 25 Newhall Road - I am guessing that would be the opposite end of the road to where you lived. Is the Adelphi up near Attercliffe Road. I drive along there sometimes and seem to remember an old dance hall on the right hand side as you go into Sheffield.

Hello  I lived next door :hihi:

Sorry Madeinsheff....got carried away there and hit the send button too soon. I think I have a couple of photos on Newhall Rd but I will have to go through and look. They are later than 20's though but I will look them out.

Hi Kidorry did you live in the Alfred Rd area?

No but I worked at Sandersons for a number of years.

If I am rite the dance hall you are thinking of was the central, I spent many happy hours there. Good old days.

So you will remember the Forge pub, my mum was a barmaid there until 1968

and my dad and husband worked at the Brightside Foundry.

She probably served me a pint or several because we called in there after we had finished work.
