Thatched Houses

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of any houses that had thatched roofs in the Sheffield or outlying districts. Of course that type of construction wouldn't be allowed now.

Thatched houses would be allowed but the cost would be enormous and the insurance ridiculously expensive.

There's an old cottage on Ash Lane, West Handley, near Chesterfield. The thatch was renewed fairly recently.

There are on-line specialist thatched property insurers, if I were insuring one I would get an on-line quote and then one from my current insurer.
